The Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Phi Kappa Sigma is the oldest fraternity chapter on the campus of Illinois Institute of Technology. Since its start at IIT in 1898, it has produced numerous leaders and scholars who have moved on to excel in their fields. Among these great men are members of government like Fred Busbey and Larrie Bailey; numerous CEO's, such as Louis Biegler, Robert A. Cornog and Norb Kaiser; military leaders like US Army Major General Charles Bolte and Secretary of the Air Force James Roche (2001-2005); and even Roger Chaffee, an Apollo Astronaut. Carroll K. Simons, one of Phi Kappa Sigma's most beloved alumni, blessed the IIT Chapter with a generous multi-million dollar endowment to be used for the betterment of the Chapter, its members and the University. This endowment provides members with scholarships and a textbook library program, which for the 2011-2012 school year over $100,000 has been awarded to members based on both need and merit. The Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity rewards its members who excel in portraying the values upon which our Fraternity was founded. Expanding upon this tradition, the Alpha Epsilon Chapter offers the "Man of Honor" Scholarship that seeks to reward first-year, male undergraduate students who distinguish themselves in academics and leadership. There will be three $500 scholarships awarded. The Man of Honor Scholarship selection process is composed of two rounds: The first round consists of a committee review of all submitted applications. Secondly, finalists will participate in a choice of a phone interview or an in-person interview. The winners will be notified by August 6, 2012.
